Cross-border connections are becoming closer and more intensive in the European Union. The nationally organised and aligned services of general interest are reaching their limits. Cross-border services of general interest are increasingly being used to improve the provision of public services to the population in cross-border areas. In a 360-degree perspective, fire protection, emergency services, local public transport and healthcare, for example, are organised on a cross-border basis. A new publication produced at the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION offers an up-to-date overview of the current status and prospects of cross-border services of general interest in European interdependent areas. Editors and participating authors presented their findings and results with a focus on the Polish-German border region on 25 June. A report on this has been published in the Viadrina Logbook.
