Visit by a group of diplomats from IPD 16 to the Center

On May 13, 2025, the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION welcomed a group of 25 diplomats from the Federal Foreign Office’s “16th International Diplomats Programme” (IDP16).

The IDP is an English-language program organized by the Federal Foreign Office’s International Diplomatic Training Division, headed this year by former Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin. The diplomats from EU member states, Africa, Asia, North and Latin America, and the Near and Middle East learned about the Center’s work during a full-day excursion to Frankfurt (Oder). They discussed with Kira Kosnick, Luis Hernandez Aguilar and Andrea Meissner the current significance of borders in the tension between international cooperation and resurgent nationalism, as well as the need for a shift in perspective on migration that takes into account the diverse forms of mobilites and globalized economies. The guests were particularly interested in the question of how scientifically grounded information on migration and anti-migration discourses can be effectively communicated to the media and political sphere to contribute to deradicalization.
