Project description:
The main research topic of this project is the interaction of internal and external borders, i.e. the cognitive, affective and practical processing of internal and external borders. In which forms are borders expressed, what kind of resources are used to reinforce and transmit borders, what kind of discoursive tools are used to justify them - these are research questions that will be followed in this project. To which extent is the past still present in internal borders even though external borders have been removed? Has the present without borders overcome the past with borders? The location of Frankfurt (Oder) on the German-Polish border offers itself a valuable opportunity to research psycho-social and cultural, but also politically relevant dynamics on the spot.
